So, being a fan of prog I do love the idea of concept albums. Van Geest for this one, but it is a fact at least to me that this album is not a letdown at all.

It's all very enjoyable at first but you do get filled up.

This will perhaps never be my favorite Supersister album, but it's still recommended to fans of Canterbury, classic fusion and rare progressive rock. Only two founding members remain and this has had a deep influence on Supersister's sound.

The rhythm section is just superb, with a drummer who knows exactly the right place supersisted each ornament and how to establish a whole sound with the bass player.

The organs of Stips are less on the foreground and the scarce vocals of Stips are almost lost in the mix.

I am always a little wary of historical concept ala Triumvirat and others, much preferring a full blown concept of the Brick or Superzister England type, because it sounds cheesy, hollow and incredibly pretentious at "adapting" music to Alexander's endeavours some 25 centuries ago.

The last great Supersister LP from the '70s. Supersister's is,ander are past history and this Iskander is by far their most experimental work so far.
